                           <description><![CDATA[Vernon recently met with Boots to discuss the threatened A453 improvement project. Work was expected to start on the &pound;168m project in the autumn. The coalition government is reviewing all spending commitments including the A453, the Nottingham tram phases two and three, and improvements to Nottingham Train Station.  The A453 improvement project is long overdue and important to residents and business in Nottingham.                            <description><![CDATA[On 1st August Gedling Recycling Centre closed it's gates to the public.     Residents will now have to travel further to Calverton to use a recycling centre.  Vernon said: "I am so disappointed that the Tories at County Hall have refused to listen to residents who have campaigned for the site to remain open. There will be more fly tipping &ndash; it is inevitable. There will also be extra mileage as residents of Gedling have to use Calverton to dispose of rubbish."...]]></description>

                           <description><![CDATA[On Friday 16th July Vernon was invited to Carlton Digby School to join students for 'High Tea' and an assembly.  Students made their own sandwiches and cakes for High Tea as part of a project they were doing on royality and aristocracy. The class also wrote to the Queen and received a response from one of her ladies in waiting.                            <description><![CDATA[On Friday 2nd July Vernon visited Arno Vale School to meet with their School Council representatives.

Students were given the opportunity to quiz their MP on his job and experience of being an MP. 
Vernon had a guided tour of the School from four of the School Council who showed him their new library and vegetable patch.

                           <title><![CDATA[Visits to Big Wood School and Stanhope Primary School]]></title>
                           <description><![CDATA[Big Wood School
  Vernon visited Big Wood School to see the new building which is now fully open. The new school is fantastic with state of the art facilities including a flood-lit multi-use games area and construction area.  The school was built through the Building Schools for the Future programme introduced under the Labour Government. Unfortunately the coalition Government have decided to scrap this scheme which will be a major disappointed to many schools in the UK.

                           <description><![CDATA[On Friday 18th June Vernon was invited to open the new community room at Robert Mellors Primary and Nursery School.

                           <description><![CDATA[Young Elizabethan Football League celebrations On Sunday, 6th June, some 5000 people came together at Notts County FC to celebrate the football achievements of 1700 young people aged 9 &ndash; 14 from all over the county as the Young Elizabethan Football League celebrate its annual presentation awards.                            <title><![CDATA[Book Character Fancy Dress and Mock General Elections]]></title>
                           <description><![CDATA[WESTDALE JUNIOR SCHOOL Last Friday (28th May) Vernon visited Westdale Junior School for Book Week. On this final day of term children were allowed to dress up as their favourite book character.  Vernon presented a prize to a child in each year for the best written story. He also gave out medals and presented the cup to Westdale Junior School's football team who won the league and the cup this year!

                           <title><![CDATA[Colwick Village Family Fun Day]]></title>
                           <description><![CDATA[On Saturday 22nd May 2010 Colwick Parish Council held a Family Fun Day on the recreation ground on Mile End Road.   Trent FM attended along with the Police and the Fire Brigade brought along a fire truck for the children to see. There was also arts and crafts, clay working, crazy golf and a bouncy castle - all free of charge!

                           <description><![CDATA[This time last year, NEAT (Netherfield Eco Action Team) gave out more than 1000 vegetable seedlings and seeds at VEG OUT, an event to encourage local people to grow their own veg at home, to eat healthily and reduce food miles. All the seedlings and seeds were donated by allotment holders, local garden centres and supermarkets. The event was such a success that NEAT are held another VEG OUT on Sat 22 May between 10am-1pm outside the Netherfield Coop, Victoria Road, Netherfield, Nottingham.
