The Tories have created a Britain that works for the wealthy, leaving the rest of Britain paying the cost. We need to introduce a real living wage for people now so that we can reduce the strain on the benefits system, and especially help those starting out in the world of work, who are already challenged by the housing crisis and student debt.
Labour has a plan to raise the minimum wage to £10 an hour as well as abolish the difference in pay rates between people over and under the age of 25. This would not only result in a pay rise for 6 million people nationally but would have the greatest effect here in the East with 1 in 4 people set to benefit from the policy.
It's time to build an equal Britain by re-balancing our economy and ensuring nobody is left behind.
