On Friday 18th June Vernon was invited to open the new community room at Robert Mellors Primary and Nursery School.

Vernon had a tour of the school by two representatives from the school council and then had the pleasure of watching two year 5 children play their trumpets.

Redhill music department kindly lend intruments and offer classes for children at Robert Mellors Primary School.

The new community room is going to be used by a range of groups including Sure Start.
Vernon also attended the school assembly which came at the end of the school's Community Week. Each year group showed the rest of the school what they had been doing during the week. Activities ranged from art projects to elections and a community newspaper. Vernon also presented two students with a special award for their contribution.
Vernon said: "What a fantastic school with great students and dedicated teachers. It was a privilege to open their new community room."
