Nottingham Post: MP impresseed by progress of relocated pupils

GEDLING MP Vernon Coaker said he was impressed to see progress being made by  students who have moved from a soon-to-close school.

Dozens of students have moved from Sherwood E-Act Academy to Carlton  Academy.

The former is to close in the summer of 2016, with only students in Years 10  and 11 remaining.

After visiting Carlton Academy Mr Coaker said: "I am delighted to see that  pupils from Sherwood (E-Act) Academy are settling in well to Carlton  Academy."

"It is clear to see how welcoming and friendly the school is."

Carlton Academy head teacher Richard Pierpoint said:  "The focus, hard work  and engagement of students has been brilliant and our staff have been fantastic  in getting everyone immediately focused on achievement and progress."
