Protest against the Tory Closure of Gedling Recycling Centre

No To Tory Cuts!

Today (Saturday 6th March) Vernon and residents held a protest at the Gedling Household Waste Recycling Centre about Tory plans to close it at the end of the month.

Leaflets were handed out to people visiting the Recycling Centre and a petition is being collected to present to the leader of the County Council, Councillor Kay Cutts to ask if the Tories will reconsider their decision.

Obviously closing this recycling centre would mean residents having to travel a further 7 miles, adding to their carbon-footprint, to the recycling centre in Calverton. There are also concerns about an increase in the amount of fly-tipping in the area as a result of this closure.
