This time last year, NEAT (Netherfield Eco Action Team) gave out more than 1000 vegetable seedlings and seeds at VEG OUT, an event to encourage local people to grow their own veg at home, to eat healthily and reduce food miles. All the seedlings and seeds were donated by allotment holders, local garden centres and supermarkets. The event was such a success that NEAT are held another VEG OUT on Sat 22 May between 10am-1pm outside the Netherfield Coop, Victoria Road, Netherfield, Nottingham. Seedlings being handed out included tomatoes, courgettes, beans, spinach, lettuce and seed potatoes, as well as providing plant pots, compost and seeds for people to plant their own veg. Allotment holders were on hand to offer advice to novice veg growers.
