Vernon is quoted in today's Nottingham Post article speaking out on behalf of flood victims in Gedling. The piece looks at the complexity of applying for flood defence funds from the Environment Agency, and Vernon was quick to state that accessibility of funding is vital to protect Gedling constituents who are at risk of flooding. He said:
"There have been problems in parts of Arnold and parts of my constituency down by the Trent. It's one thing offering money to people but that money has to be accessible – you don't want people giving up in frustration. If the money's there, please make it easy to access. It's not good enough."
