Vernon Coaker MP, Labour’s Shadow Defence Secretary, commenting on David Cameron’s remarks in Afghanistan, said:
“David Cameron should have chosen his words more carefully.
“We can be proud of the contribution that Britain’s Armed Forces have made and are making in Afghanistan. But the mission is ongoing and our troops will be on the frontline until well in to next year.
“In the run-up to Christmas, our brave servicemen and women and their families will be acutely aware that the job is not done in Afghanistan. They will need the continuing support of the British public over the coming weeks and months.
“There is no room for complacency when our Armed Forces are engaged in an ongoing, dangerous and complicated military operation.”
